Northern Virginia Training Center

The Northern Virginia Training Center (NVTC) provides residential services to people with a primary diagnosis of mental retardation, emphasizing medical and behavioral needs in programming.

Eligibility

To be considered eligible for services, persons must reside in the counties of Loudoun, Fairfax, Prince William, Arlington or the cities of Alexandria or Falls Church. NVTC primarily accepts residents 18 years of age or older for admission.

Respite Services

NVTC provides respite services for ages 6 and up. There is a maximum of a 21-day stay at one time with no more than 35 days per year. Respite is based on bed space availability.

Services Offered to Clients Admitted to NVTC

Physical therapy, occupational therapy, recreational therapy, vocational training, speech pathology, psychology, medical and social work.

Outpatient Services

Many services provided to residents are also available for non-residents through our Regional Community Support Center which can be accessed through your local Community Services Board case management.

Hours of Operation

Client services are offered 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. NVTC’ s business hours are 8:15 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Waiting List

There is currently a waiting list for admission. Respite services can be obtained with no wait. The initial application may take 2-4 weeks to process.

Applications

All initial respite and admission applications are initiated through local Community Services Board case management staff.
