Home 3A
The individuals who live on Home 3A are socially interactive and most have physical disabilities. All need significant assistance with personal care as well as participation in most activities. Social skills are well developed and individuals in this Home establish long-lasting relationships. All individuals require daily nursing assistance, nutritional and physical supports, and supervision to maintain optimal health.
Program Focus:
- Individual wheelchair design, positioning and physical therapy are provided to foster and maintain optimal functional independence, good body alignment and comfort
- Adaptive equipment is utilized to maximize independence in activities of daily living, environmental control, leisure activities and vocational tasks
- The enhancement of communication skills is emphasized, with concentrated application of augmentative communication devices. Cognitive skills are also fostered through leisure computer use, development of responsibility for self-initiative, decision-making, and self-advocacy
- The development and facilitation of group and individual leisure time pursuits is emphasized to enhance social, emotional and physical aspects of life, both at home and in the community at large
