Home 3D
Most of the individuals living on Home 3D are socially interactive and all require assistance to meet their personal care needs. All individuals use a wheelchair or require assistance when walking. Communication, socialization and self-help skills are priority-training needs. Most of the individuals are non-verbal and require daily nursing assistance, as well as physical and nutritional management.
Program Focus:
- Physical therapy is a major focus of treatment. Individualized wheelchair seating and other adapted equipment are provided to meet positioning and mobility needs. Physical management, which includes handling, transferring and positioning, is provided to maintain good body alignment, prevent complications of immobility, and ensure comfort
- Opportunities for individual and group leisure activities are provided. Individuals need a variety of assistance to complete leisure tasks. Making choices and maximum independence are encouraged
- All necessary activities of daily living in accordance with physical management and nutritional management guidelines are completed with staff assistance on a daily basis
- The development of functional communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal communication, involving sign gestures and alternative augmentative devices are encouraged
