Home 5A
Most of the individuals living on Home 5A are able to walk short distances with some ambulation problems, and may require the use of gait belts and wheelchairs for long distance travel. Some individuals require significant assistance and may rely on the use of wheelchairs to move about. The majority of the individuals have various levels of seizure disorders and some will require one-to-one staff assistance. Some of the individuals have various positioning programs in place. Self-initiated social interaction is limited. These individuals respond best to one staff member or as part of a small group. Refinement of fine and gross motor skills, socialization, functional communication training, dining and positioning are priority-training areas. Most individuals require a high level of support and supervision to maintain optimal health. These individuals participate in very basic levels of training.
