Home 8C
The individuals who live on Home 8C have fairly well developed social skills and are capable of taking an active part in individual and group activities. Most of the people that live on 8C can communicate verbally, using sign language, and gestures as well. A major focus is expanding and developing community living skills. All attend a spectrum of activities of either competitive employment, sheltered workshops or a developmental day program.
Program Focus:
- The refinement of social skills including group etiquette is taught
- Developing daily living skills is stressed
- Training is provided to apply survival skills in a variety of settings
- Developing an awareness of community norms is offered
- Individual and group leisure time interests are fostered
- Individual choice and preference is strongly encouraged
- Personalizing and decorating their bedrooms is encouraged
