Home One
The individuals that live on Home One require substantial personal assistance. Individuals are medically fragile, and require frequent intervention from nursing and physical therapy.
Program Focus:
- Communication treatment is provided to foster and enhance functional prelinguistic, receptive, and expressive language skills on an individualized basis via formal programming and/or informal communication group activities
- Mealtime programs are developed to make dining a pleasurable experience and to increase eating skills to maintain/improve integrity of upper aerodigestive system functioning
- Individualized physical therapy programs are designed to foster/maintain good body alignment and to provide optimal positioning for functioning
- Intensive monitoring of health care status/needs is maintained
- Sensory stimulation activities are provided to develop and enhance the physical, cognitive, and emotional status of each person. This also involves exploring new techniques for stimulation such as relaxation, musical preferences, attention to task and environmental awareness
- Recreation and leisure activities are provided that are fun and enjoyable, with an opportunity to develop leisure-related skills that allow individuals to enhance their quality of life
