The Human Resource Department is responsible for planning, coordinating and
administering a comprehensive hum
an resource management program. This program
includes employee relations, See classification and compensation, employee
benefits, worker’s compensation, staff development and training, and other
services designed
to retain a qualified, effective and efficient work force. The Commonwealth
of Virginia provides employees with a comprehensive benefits program. This
includes health care coverage at group rates, long-term care coverage, a
sickness and
disability program, and coverage under the Virginia Retirement System with
no employee contribution. Employees may also participate in a Deferred Compensation
Plan and tax deferred Flexible Reimbursement Accounts for Childcare and/or
Medical Care.

Training and Staff Development
The Training and Staff Development Division has the overall responsibility for planning, scheduling, providing, evaluating and recording staff development training throughout NVTC. Staff training is provided to all employees to maintain and continuously improve current job skills. Special pre-service training is provided before assignment to permanent or temporary duties.
