Get to know a client and become their friend, take them for a walk, read to them, talk with them, take them swimming. Do arts and crafts and other activities with them. Clients love the special attention and care that you can give to them. Please call Volunteer Services 703-323-4078.
Special Events
Assist clients in attending special events, such as dances, concerts, and holiday parties. Many clients are in wheelchairs and cannot get to the special events by themselves.
Sponsorship
Select a special friend with whom you will talk, write, visit and send small gifts. Enrich their lives by being a part of their lives.
Swimming Buddy
Help a client swim in our heated pool. This is something very special to all our clients.
Administrative Assistance
Help with filing, assembling orientation packets, photocopying and other tasks on an as-needed basis."
Assist with Client Outing
It is a special treat for the clients to get out of their units to go on a trip. They enjoy getting off campus for trips and they cannot do this without your assistance.
Bake Birthday Cakes
Bake a birthday cake for a client’s birthday.
Sewing Room Help
Experienced volunteers needed to assist our Seamstress with sorting, mending, and making clothing for clients.
Internship Opportunities
OT, PT, Therapeutic Recreation or Psychology.
Sewing Room
Help staff with sorting, mending, making clothes for clients.
Unit Assistance
Assist staff with the clients on the various units.
Sponsor Events
Your club or organization may wish to sponsor a NVTC event for the clients.
